Lydia Harder Pottery - Aylmer


Lydia Harder has been creating functional stoneware gas fired pottery on and off for 20 years. Pieces ranging from mugs and cups, wine goblets, to dinner sets, casseroles to tea pots. Lydia Harder Pottery is a palette of deep blues/ greens, warm toasts, stunning reds and creams. The Harder Family Studio :) host multiple Christmas Open House Sales and is available for purchase from the studio as well.

Starting an apprenticeship in 1993 she had her first Open House in 1995. Born and raised south of Aylmer - attended Sparta Union Public School then East Elgin and lastly 5 years at Wilfrid Laurier University - married and settled on a piece of land back south of Aylmer. Currently she is balancing her career as a certified DMT, Cr. LDT., raising 2 amazing children and making pottery. The newest addition to the studio is the introduction of an apprentice, her daughter, Erin Harder (age 17).

This is the second season for Erin Harder who is operating as Chica Pottery. Her palette consists of a Japanese Shino ranging from creams to gold- sometimes orange and even greys. Her theme right now are a variety of sizes of sushi / serving sets. Her motivations have been to raise money for mission work in Africa. She has successfully completed one 4 week mission with a team of 9 to Malawi in 2014. She has been invited to join again 2016. Her work is currently available at local summer Art Festivals and directly from the studio.
