Artist Statement:
My name is Trevor and I am a fine art scenic photographer. I’ve had a life-long passion for the great outdoors. Minutes turn into hours while out exploring nature and getting lost in the moment. I strive to produce beautiful photographs that represent the many changing conditions that Mother Nature has to offer. People often compliment my creative ability by mistaking my photographs for paintings.
South-Western, Ontario, Canada is where I call home. Many of the photographs you will find in my portfolio have been created within a few miles from where I live. I crave the challenge to take otherwise dull looking scenes and turn them into visually impactful works of art. It takes a keen eye to see the potential of a given scene. At times, some of the photographs are created spur of the moment, but most take hours of research, planning and composition. I’m constantly scouting the countryside for potential subject matter and often return when conditions match my artistic vision.
My images have attracted a worldwide following and grace the walls of many homes, offices and establishments. I feel blessed to have support and demand for my work.
Bio:
Growing up in Southwestern Ontario, with its abundance of beautiful scenery and wildlife, Trevor Pottelberg has always harbored a love for the great outdoors, a passion that eventually manifested itself through his scenic landscape photography.
He graduated from Fanshawe College in 2000 with diplomas in both Photography and Advanced Photography. During his enrollment in the program, Trevor won many outstanding achievement awards for his landscape work. After graduating, Trevor launched a successful photography business under the name of Pottelberg Photography. He and his wife Cara would go on to photograph hundreds of weddings and families over a 15 year span.
In December of 2013, Trevor decided that it was time for a change of pace and took his passion for scenic photography to the next level, launching T.Pottelberg – Fine Art Photography. He rapidly built up a worldwide following and his work now graces the walls of many homes, offices and business establishments.
Trevor joined the PPOC (Professional Photographers of Canada) in February of 2014. Since joining the PPOC, he has had 13 images accepted and exhibited into the salon at both Provincial and National levels. He has also earned National Accreditation in Nature, Fine Art, Pictorial and Night Photography. The highlight of his career thus far was winning the 2015 Best in Class Award for all of Canada in the Pictorial category.
To capture his images, Trevor often travels to the same location multiple times in search of the right light and atmosphere. His work transports the viewer into the scene, leaving a deeper appreciation of the natural beauty that surrounds us all.
